Review of Microsoft APPS

Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint each serve unique purposes and have distinct usages. Microsoft Word is a word processing software that allows you to write letters, essays, college papers, etc., or engage in free writing. Excel is a spreadsheet program that enables you to compile and analyze data to reflect information based on the input you provide.

When you first enter the interface of these applications, you'll notice differences immediately. In Microsoft Word, you're presented with a blank document; in Excel, you're greeted with rows and columns ready for data entry. While you can insert tables into Word documents, this feature is not as central as in Excel, where data organization is essential. In Excel, you can compact large amounts of information into data and calculate using unique formulas. Regarding document handling, you cannot upload a text file directly into Excel as you would in Word. Word also offers spellcheck and grammar tools, which are not as readily available in Excel; you'd need to review your data for errors manually. Word allows formulas, but it lacks the automation Excel provides, where entering a formula can calculate values across an entire column. These are just a few of the unique differences between the two programs. They both have unique functions as it was intended for. Given the type of project you are given, one can be better suited for the task at hand. This is where preferences will be made regarding which application to go with. PowerPoint is another application designed to create visually appealing presentations for projects or department meetings. It allows 3D objects, animations to enhance your presentation, and customizable backgrounds and designs. While it focuses on presentation, you can still add textual information, similar to Word. Additionally, like Word, you can share a link to your presentation so others can access and view your slideshows.
